I will never have enough time, talent, or treasure to fully give back to the people and organizations that have helped me through, but I can use what I have, when I have it, to support services that others will benefit from.
I wondered what it would be like to see my name on a book cover, and how I would feel when my words, my heart-blood, were read by pairs of eyes other than my own.
I feel like a twelve-year-old girl deciding which classmates to invite to a birthday sleepover.
Writing a memoir is tiring. I enjoyed the process, the things I’ve learned about myself, and even revisiting the challenging times that have made me the strong, thriving woman I am today, but now is the crucial time for book business.
While my friends and41xeub1r5bl colleagues are all atwitter about flowers and candy, date night and all things mushy, I sit in silent grief. I’m used to it now, after so many years, but it doesn’t get easier.
So many friends and fans have been anxiously awaiting my book baby. Nobody has waiting longer than me. It had to be the right time, and I had to be in the right place and frame of mind to do it right.
My origins are an integral part of the woman who stands before you today. I can’t change what happened to me, but I can do everything, including using my voice and words, to support and uplift others who have/are dealing with the same thing.
